Dense media separation is the separation process of diamonds from diamond bearing material. The diamond bearing material is submerged in a liquid / pulp with a very specific density, which is where FeSi alloy, Ferrosilicon, comes in. The dense pulp is achieved by mixing the Ferrosilicon powder with water, until the desired density is reached. This liquid will cause the diamonds to separate from other material, making the processing of diamonds easier.

- Milled Ferrosilicon products: Milled Ferrosilicon products from DMS Powders include 65D, 100D, 150D, 270D, 270F. The production of Milled Ferrosilicon requires melting steel in an induction furnace, after which the molten FeSi alloy is then tapped onto a sand bed until it has cooled. The product is then crushed and milled into the desired particle sizes.
- Atomized Ferrosilicon products: Atomized Ferrosilicon products from DMS Powders include Coarse, Fine, Cyclone 60, Cyclone 40 and DMS 70. Atomized Ferrosilicon is produced by melting Ferrosilicon with high grade steel in an induction furnace. The fine particles produced are then separated via screens, and classified according to grade. DMS Powders’ Atomized Ferrosilicon products include Coarse, Fine, Cyclone 60, Cyclone 40 and DMS 70.
