recently held.

 

The 10th International Dense Medium Symposium

                      

Dense medium plants remain key to the beneficiation and recovery of heavy minerals, metals and diamonds. Utilizing these assets for optimal economic performance should be the focus of all operations. With this objective in mind, DMS Powders hosted our 10th International Dense Medium Symposium at Kapama Game Reserve, South Africa during May 2008. As the leading supplier of dense medium ferrosilicon, DMS Powders aims to promote knowledge management within the sphere of dense medium applications. Motivated by this desire, the first symposium was hosted in 1983. Today, our Symposium is the foremost technical event where members within the Dense Media Separation industry can get together and exchange knowledge in this field. 88 Delegates from across the globe attended our symposium at Kapama.

While the formal proceedings focused on improved efficiency, higher recovery, latest design practices, and industry examples, plenty of time was allowed for networking, be it on the game drives or casually over dinner. The staff at Kapama Game Reserve and surrounding lodges Serondella, Monwana and Hongonyi, excelled in their service with seamless effort. Dinners were served under the African sky in the bush and the river bed, providing a relaxed ambiance for the day’s technical presentations to be pondered upon.
